Stefano Maggio<\/a> works as a composer, producer and singer,
\ncreating music in many different styles for film, TV and other licensing work.
\nHe is also the vocal tutor on the TV talent show Pops Stars in Germany. In <\/i>Part One<\/a>, he told Soundreef about h<\/i>ow he started out in the music industry, how he gets paid for his music and how got started in music licensing. Today he tells us<\/i> about how he got the Popstars gig, how TV talent shows have changed
\nthe music scene and artists going it alone.<\/i><\/p>\n

\u2018I made a talent show, in Germany, a big TV show called Popstars<\/i>, where I was the vocal coach. I
\ndid an audition and was picked as vocal coach<\/a>. An Italian vocal coach on a German
\nTV show! On the one hand I had the opportunity to teach young singers how sing
\nin the studio and how to be on stage, and on the other hand to meet Rihanna,
\nLeona Lewis and other big mainstream artists \u2013 so it was a big, big
\nexperience.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u2018I am the producer of one of these young artists I met at
\nPopstars, her name is Jennifer Kirchheim<\/a>, she\u2019s a
\nwonderful singer. We released four singles, they all worked very well on German
\nradio. Actually we are working on her first album.\u2019<\/p>\n

How are shows like that changing things for musicians? Have
\nthey made things different?<\/p>\n

\u2018Today, the music industry is very different. Shows like
\nthis have changed how people approach music. I see that many young people are getting
\ninto music thanks to these shows. Otherwise they would not have a passion like
\nthis.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u2018The people who see it on the television learn, and so I
\nfind it great.\u2019<\/p>\n

So it\u2019s a way of teaching more people he actually teaches on
\nscreen?<\/p>\n

\u2018I was the vocal coach, so I was the director of voices and
\nso I had to teach. I had to give something to the young singers. Sometimes when
\nthe work was too technical, it would be boring for TV. I learned to make technical exercises
\ninteresting for a TV audience and helpful for the singers at the same time!\u2019<\/p>\n

Does he do a lot of live shows?<\/p>\n

\u2018No I don\u2019t do live shows, I work in the studio 99% of the
\ntime. I\u2019m a songwriter, I\u2019m a producer, I\u2019m a vocal coach. But I like doing
\nlive shows. I really like it very much, but my main work goes into the studio
\nstuff.\u2019<\/p>\n
